Cheers for chiming in Kevin and I'm very glad you've got some nice images from this lens. :) Sony mirrorless cameras are so good for old lenses aren't they? You've got a great base there with the A7IV for exploring more vintage glass, especially with it being full frame. I was only using my Rokkor on APS-C here. Keep shooting pal. :)

I can't remember when I picked up this lens (maybe 5 years ago). It was part of a lot of other lenses and parts. I took it for a spin on my SONY A7IV for the first time yesterday and was very pleased with the results. I'm relatively new at shooting vintage lenses on modern cameras, but I think I am hooked now. In particular, really enjoy the coloration that this lens produces. It definitely has a nostalgic vibe about it. Surprised also at the super smooth focusing and fortunately, my aperture blades on this copy are working great. Highly Recommended.

Hey Gil, I'm glad you found this review informative. :)

I'm not surprised you've found a version that slipped through the cracks in my table up there. I research everything on this site as thoroughly as possible and it almost always happens that things to do with old photography are absolute rabbit warrens of versions, upgrades, renames for different parts of the world, and general muddying of the waters like that. :D

Enjoy your lens regardless! Am sure you'll get some awesome shot with it. :)

I'm a bit late to this article, but I just bought an Auto W.Rokkor-HG version of this lens. The glass and aperture are perfect but the focus has a slight hitch in it. I plan to use it on an SR-T 202 and a NEX-6. An interesting thing on the table of versions that you have there. My lens seems to be a transition model between the two versions of the Auto W.Rokkor-HG. It retains the 55mm filter thread diameter, but its minimum aperture is f16. I'm guessing it was made somewhere close to the full transition to the 52mm thread diameter.

Thanks for such an informative article!

Cheers for commenting CJ. I don't shoot wide open or anything below f8 really so always found good results with this lens. But good to have some input from someone who has done that and can speak about it. It could help someone reading this and I appreciate you taking the time. :)
