Yep, I always enjoyed shooting this lens on the Sony mirrorless I’d used it on here. One small point, just keep in mind the crop factor on that camera made this lens act like a 42mm. I’m sure you’re aware! But thought it worth mentioning.

Having said that, I’ve been using a 28mm lens on my Pentax MX in recent years and really love the focal length. I really enjoy filling wide compositions with it.

I haven’t tried either of those other Takumars you mentioned but I do have the 50mm f1.8 and have always really liked the results that gave me too.

I have the latest version (1971-75) that my dad bought new in Japan in the early 70s. I used to shoot film with his Pentax spotmatic at least 20 years ago but didn’t take the time to learn what I was actually doing. Now that I’m in my 40s I have that desire, and came across your page while researching the lenses I have. Landscape photography appeals a lot to me as a landscape architect, and I cannot wait to give it a go. I am only shooting Black and White for the moment as I am trying processing my own film too, but the possibilities for everyday photography seem great after seeing your street shots. I really love the corn; the colour and composition are fantastic.
Since I had the Spotmatic film counter and light meter repaired a few years ago and plan to keep it as my main camera; no adapters required haha. Aside from the standard 1:1.4/50 which is the lens I’ve always kept on my camera, I also have a Super Takumar 1:3.5/135 compact telephoto I am jazzed to try. Have you tried either of those?

However a small typo seems to have crept in to the second paragraph under the ‘adapter’ section.

I suspect that the overall length of the 28mm is about 40mm rather than ‘around 40cm from front to mount’; that would be quite a hefty lens to carry around!
